Sinking slowly – The QE2 (2003)

She was the costliest, fastest and most elegant passenger ship of all times – and sadly she still is. The Titanic struck lucky, descending into Neptune’s realm with a triumphant fanfare and so achieving immortality of a kind. This destiny has not been shared by the Queen Elizabeth 2. Her history is a lengthy one of missed opportunities to say farewell. Shortly after her maiden voyage, air travel deprived her of transatlantic customers. Later, gargantuan young cruisers lured the last leisure travellers into their bowels. The QE2, as guests lovingly call her, became a legend of herself. All that remains is her own mortality and the stubbornness of age, as she refuses to accept her own demise and denies death with defiant narcissism. Sinking slowly - The QE2 is a myth-debunking voyage into the odyssey of a passenger company without a destination.
